Class: Lessons in Abstract Art

Abstract art uses form, color, and line to create compositions which do not have direct visual references from life. While most traditional art attempts to mimic reality, abstract art appeals to the mind without trying to reproduce what we are accustomed to seeing. Believe it or not, most realistic looking art also contains some abstraction.

In this class Wendy will show many examples of abstract art where artists have used vibrant colors and high contrast to demand attention. You will see that abstract art often has recognizable objects and people, which makes it more enjoyable for those who struggle with the "nonobjective" art styles. She will demonstrate as well as lecture. Come and join us for an enjoyable non-traditional art lesson!
