Term: Rhythm

A work of art is said to have rhythm when a regular repetition of one or more shapes is used to suggest motion. Some patterns have rhythm but rhythm can be conveyed in other ways as well. For example, values or colors can be used to make your eye travel from one element to another giving a sense of movement. Lines can also produce rhythm by implying movement.
