Term: Yellowing

A tendency on the part of the binding media to turn in tint toward yellow as it ages. Yellowing is most likely to occur when linseed oil is included in the paint, as it tends to yellow as it oxidizes. Yellowing also refers to the discoloration of paper due to age, humidity, inferior materials or improper storage.
