Term: Cover

A term used to describe the capacity of a pigment to obscure the underlying surface. This capacity determines how much paint is required to cover or hide a given area (often described as "coverage"). Paints that more easily obscure are described as being opaque, while those with less ability in this area are described as being transparent.
