A watermark is an image or pattern that appears lighter or darker on paper. Some watermarks are easy to see while others are only visible when the paper is viewed in front of a strong light. Watermarks identify who manufactured the paper, and depending on the manufacturer, it may also tell you the brand, size, quality or cotton content.
