A type of water-soluble paint that incorporates opaque (non-transparent)
pigments ground in water and thickened with a glue-like substance (usually gum arabic). Gouache and watercolor paints can be used together, but unlike watercolor gouache includes white as a paint color. Gouache dries to a nice matte finish with lighter tones appearing darker than when wet, while darker tones tend to dry lighter.
