A liquid solution that hardens to a solid film after it is applied to a surface. The solid film adheres to the surface allowing the paint to become a enduring decoration. The paint mixture usually consists of a solid pigment, a liquid binder, and solvents added to alter the consistency. For example, oil paints are made with natural oils such as linseed, walnut, or poppy and require mineral solvents. Acrylic paints are made with acrylic polymer emulsion made from acrylic resins and can be diluted with water.
