Texture is an
element of art that describes both the way a piece feels when touched, and the visual sense of how an object would feel if it existed in real life. Texture is all about the surface quality of a work, whether tactile or visual. Texture can be applied by different uses of media (see
Impasto for example) or implied by using combinations of line, pattern, shading, color, and tone (see
Frottage for example).
